Reading/Writing zip files with C#

Ok so today I found myself having to read/write from a zip file in C#. Apparently in the 2.0 framework this is built in. You need to use the GZipStream class found in the System.IO.Compression namespace.

After a bit more research I have found the GZipStream class is pretty limited. You would be better served to look at the Sharp Zip Library. It's a GPL project so if you have issues with that read their disclaimer/legal pages. I have used it and have been able to read/write zip files made with windows xp and win zip.

UPDATE: I suggest using DotNetZip from CodePlex you can get it here. It's a snap to use and generates zip files for .net very easily and quickly.

I used dotnetzip library to read zip files. But I did not get accurate results for most of the zip files. I only got Ionic.Zip.ZipException :Cannot read that as a zip file for most of the zip files.

I recently ran into a situation where I had to do some string manipulation. I had to replace some bad text with valid text. All this had to do with creating valid xml element names. So we had to string white space and some other invalid characters and replace them with valid xml element formatting. To do this we ended up using the Regex.Replace static method. C# Producer Consumer using Rabbit MQ

So I've been learning about the different message queuing systems and discovered rabbit MQ, an open source and very popular message queuing system. I've created a very basic producer/consumer system that sends a message to a rabbit MQ queue. Producer/Consumer is pretty simple, you have two systems a producer that writes to a queue and a consumer that reads from a queue. This is desirable because it splits responsibility and allows for scalability. The code below is going to assume you have a rabbit MQ instance installed on your local machine.
